Needle-free Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the ancient science or art that normalizes the energy (qi “pronounced chee”) within the body. It has been used in China for over 5,000 years. The Chinese teach that there are fourteen meridians of energy that run throughout the body. These meridians coordinate with the body’s major organs; the heart, spleen, liver, large intestine, small intestine, gall bladder, bladder, kidney, stomach, etc. The Chinese believe that when there is an imbalance in the energy within the meridians, the organ associated with that meridian will soon become diseased.  The goal of the treatments is to restore balance to this energy system.
These meridians can be evaluated using sophisticated computerized equipment, a technology which is used daily by more and more health care providers. Here, the practitioner will actually take measurements at 58 different points to determine where the excess and deficient energies are located and will systematically try to restore balance to those meridians. This type of acupuncture requires a thorough understanding of the way that the energy flows within these meridians. It is much more advanced than the typical form of “pattern” acupuncture which is used by many practitioners.

Once the imbalances are identified, a treatment technique, or form of stimulation, is chosen to restore balance to the body. Stimulation of these points can be done with needles; however, there are many other very effective and needle-free methods of receiving acupuncture. Electric stimulation (often times in the form of micro-current) is widely used. Acupressure and lasers are often utilized as well.
